This expansion was fueled by a dedicated team that worked tirelessly to meet the needs of its growing membership base.

Since 2003, UBA has partnered with top-tier insurance carrier partners to offer optional group limited benefit insurance policies, serving as the master policyholder. This collaboration ensures members receive crucial support when needed. Our goal is to help small business owners and their dedicated team manage out-of-pocket medical expenses. These include:

- Accident Insurance
- Critical Illness coverage

- Hospital Indemnity Insurance
- Term Life Insurance
- and Dental & Vision Insurance

These programs are supplemental and not required for membership in UBA but are designed to add meaningful services tailored to our members.

UBA's Timeline of Achievements

Below, we highlight the various achievements from the United Business Association's inception to present day.

1990's decade with UBA

1990s

  • August 1990: Incorporation
    The United Business Association (UBA) was officially incorporated on August 13, 1990, in the State of Texas, marking the formal establishment of the organization.
  • August 1993: Amendment of Articles
    On August 16, 1993, the Articles of Incorporation for UBA were amended, reflecting the organization's evolving structure and governance.
  • March 1998: Partnership with HealthyAmerica
    In March 1998, HealthyAmerica contracted with UBA as the exclusive National Marketing Organization. This partnership began offering free vitamins to UBA members.
Early 2000 decade with UBA

Early 2000s

  • 2002: Membership Milestone
    UBA's membership grew significantly, reaching 10,000 members.
  • October 2003: Introduction of Group Accident Insurance
    UBA added Group Accident Insurance to its membership benefits in October 2003.
  • December 2003: Addition of Group Critical Illness Insurance
    In December 2003, Group Critical Illness Insurance was also included in UBA's membership offerings.
2010's decade with UBA

2010s

  • 2013: Membership Growth
    UBA recorded over 20,000 members, demonstrating continued growth and engagement.
  • 2013-2018: Expansion of Insurance Offerings
    UBA expanded its insurance offerings with Group Term Life Insurance and adding various insurance carrier partners to issue supplemental insurance policies to UBA. The insurance carriers included are Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America issuing dental and vision insurance policies to UBA in 2017; In April 2018, United States Fire Insurance Company issues group accident and group hospital fixed indemnity insurance policies to UBA and take over the group accident and hospital indemnity from Catlin Insurance Company in June 2018. And in 2018, UBA also gained a group accident insurance policy from Guaranteed Trust Life Insurance Company (GTL).
  • 2015-2017: New Health Benefits
    HealthyAmerica contracted with MeMD and Paramount RX to provide telehealth visits and prescription discounts as part of the initial UBA's Benefit Boost Subscription program.
  • 2019: Digital Enhancements
    UBA launched an improved online enrollment platform and a new Member Portal, simplifying the enrollment process and enhancing member access to plan details and insurance certificates.
Early 2020 decade with UBA

Early 2020s

  • March & April 2020: Adaptation to Covid-19
    UBA maintained full operations during the Covid-19 pandemic by implementing remote work and safety protocols upon returning to the office in April.
  • October 2020: New Insurance Policies
    In our ever expanding search for quality supplemental products for our members, we added additional insurance carrier partners including SiriusPoint America Insurance Company to underwrite a policy to UBA for group accident and critical illness insurance.
  • May 2021: Introduction of Virtual Primary Care
    UBA introduced a virtual primary care solution, offering non-insurance subscription services for virtual primary care.
  • February 2022: Expanded Insurance Options
    First Continental Life & Accident Insurance Company issued a Group Dental Insurance policy with PPO and HMO plans for UBA members.
  • 2022-2024: Rebranding and Changing Telehealth Providers
    In September 2022, MeMD officially changed its name to Walmart Health Virtual Care. But in May 2024, UBA's Benefit Boost Subscription plans transitioned their telehealth vendor from Walmart to Lyric Health for new enrollments starting 5/2/24 and all current members who had telehealth on 7/1/2024.
